Meet Granville T. Woods (1856β1910), a pioneering Black inventor whose innovations helped improve railway communication.
In 1887, Woods received U.S. Patent No. 373,383 for a railway telegraph system. His technology enabled moving trains to communicate with railway stations using existing telegraph lines, helping improve communication and safety across the rail network.
And that was only one part of his legacy. Woods earned nearly 60 patents during his career, developing technologies related to railways, electricity, and communication.
Thank you, Granville T. Woods.
