While traveling on the train to downtown Chicago, looking out the window I had a thought. The scene reminded me of a Leslie Odom, Jr. song titled "Foggy", so I had an idea. Thinking of the song I wanted to capture what the song would convey, at that moment, peering out the train window. Something along the lines of what Gordon Parks would photograph but in video form.
When someone repeatedly makes you feel like an outsider, stop auditioning for a position in their life.
Whether it happens in a relationship, friendship, family, or another part of your life, constantly trying to prove that you belong can become emotionally exhausting.
You don't have to fight for acceptance.
You don't have to retaliate when it isn't given.
Sometimes you recognize the message, protect your dignity, and redirect your energy toward relationships where there is mutual respect.
Go where your presence is welcomed, not merely tolerated.
