Baltimore is experiencing a historic, multi-year decline in violent crime under the administration of Mayor Brandon Scott.
Official public safety data highlights deep statistical drops across major metrics:
Homicides dropped sharply compared to the same timeframe in previous years.
Non-fatal shootings have continued their multi-year slide.
Property and street-level crimes have dropped in tandem, led by deep reductions in auto thefts and robberies.
The Scott administration credits these record lows to an "all-in" public health approach, utilizing the Group Violence Reduction Strategy (GVRS) and investing in Community Violence Intervention (CVI) programs to defuse neighborhood disputes before they escalate.
The results showed how Baltimore's broader approach helped reduce violence and sparked conversations about the role of community investment, youth support, prevention, and law enforcement efforts in creating safer neighborhoods.
