Dr. Mark E. Dean (Born 1957) helped shape the modern personal computer.
Working at IBM, Dr. Dean co-invented technologies that allowed personal computers to connect to monitors, keyboards, printers, storage devices, and other peripherals—making computers far more useful in homes, schools, and businesses.
He was also a co-inventor on 3 of IBM's original 9 PC patents, and became an IBM Fellow, one of the company's highest technical honors.
Today, the impact of his work can be seen in computers around the world. Innovation isn't always about inventing an entirely new device. Sometimes it's about creating the technology that makes everything else work together.
