In court, we are made to silently swear, “so help me God,” to tell the truth, in a system that has intentionally locked Black and brown bodies in prisons for free labor. Convict leasing is written into law.
After that, we join the military, for economic reasons, to fight for a country that does everything in its power to cripple the Black family: the welfare system, Jim Crow, redlining, and the war on drugs, all disguised as political.
What I’ve come to understand is that from birth until this day, God has been administered as law, enforced by law enforcement. There has never been any evidence of a physical presence. There is no greater power than someone or something that controls your life from birth to death — and government systems do exactly that. It’s no coincidence that they write God into law, making God unquestionable, therefore making laws unquestionable.
