Just Step One Foot Back
Marreese “Mo Buckets” Speights explains how one simple adjustment helped change his game.
While with Golden State, Steve Kerr and Alvin Gentry encouraged Mo to take the long midrange shot he was already comfortable with and “just step one foot back” behind the three-point line. At first, that extra foot felt like ten — but once the coaching staff gave him the confidence to keep shooting, his three-point game took off and helped shape the Mo Buckets identity.
Sometimes the difference between staying the same and evolving is just one step back.
