Nothing gets through without the child.

Now, when I say the child, I’m speaking metaphorically. In scientific terms, what I’m referring to is your nervous system.

Every experience, every relationship, every opportunity, every challenge, every word someone speaks to you—it all passes through your nervous system first. Before your logical mind responds, your nervous system has already asked, “Am I safe, or am I in danger?”

That’s why I often say, nothing gets through without the child.

The “child” represents the part of you that first receives, interprets, and responds to the world. In the language of neuroscience, that’s your nervous system at work.

If your nervous system perceives safety, you’re more likely to receive love, embrace change, think creatively, and move forward with confidence.

If it perceives danger, even when no real threat exists, it can block connection, growth, and possibility.

So if you want to transform your life, don’t overlook your greatest partner in creation: your nervous system. Every experience enters through it first.
