A major and often overlooked issue is why many ministries consistently worship LORD and GOD rather than the covenant Name written in Hebrew, יהוה , and why attempts to restore or pronounce the Name are frequently attacked or dismissed. Historically, this did not begin as rebellion but as tradition. By the Second Temple period, Jewish scribes avoided speaking the Name out of reverence, substituting Adonai or HaShem. When the Scriptures moved into Greek, translators followed this tradition by replacing יהוה with Kyrios (Lord), a practice later carried into Latin (Dominus) and then English (LORD). Over time, the substitution became normalized, while the actual Name faded from worship and teaching.
