Block Kay is a 45-year-old artist, producer, and lyricist hailing from Soweto, Gauteng, whose journey in music began in childhood with spoken-word poetry & keyboard playing in church choirs. Transitioning from gospel influences to hip-hop & pop production, Block Kay has carved out a niche as an independent creator who blends raw authenticity with modern innovation. Not a high-pitched vocalist by trade, he excels in crafting beats & rhymes for hip-hop (including gangster styles), pop, & pop-gospel, often using tools like FL Studio & emerging DAW Apps in assisting him in mixing and AI mastering. As a true indie spirit, he handles his own publishing & distribution, preferring creative control over label deals at this stage & collabos with freelance talents to refine his vision and grow his footprint in SA.
