The Black Tube was created by Tech Entrepreneurs Ap 1nabillion and wife Dangerus Diva. This power couple is famously known for their success on YouTube as the parents of the So in Love Family.
In 2013 we were one of the first Black Families to garner success on YouTube. While reaching over 500 million viewers via our ItsJFunk and the So in love Family channel, we noticed there was a lack of representation of black men, women, families and children on YouTube. We decided to recruit more talent to use the platform via our Welcome 2 Media network.
Over the next few years we would partner over 150 channels to our Welcome 2 Media network and began to teach those clients how to master YouTube. We begin to notice a stunning trend. Our white and asian clients would achieve far greater success than our black clients did on YouTube. We noticed less black clients being featured on the Youtube homepage, suggested video section, and rarely ever showcased in the YouTube kids app. Many of our black clients had thumbnails removed, videos marked as 18+, wrongfully demonetized or listed as non advertiser friendly. More black creators received channel strikes and had videos removed from YouTube for invalid reasons.
After seeing our people constantly overlooked and even facing unfair treatment on our own family based YouTube channels we decided to create The Black Tube. A platform where black content creators are given a fair chance to succeed in the digital video space. We want to be able to create content freely without restrictions and not have our hardwork, blood sweat and tears be in vein. It's really hurtful and upsetting to have limitations placed over your content simply because of the color of your skin. We believe black content creators should be able to receive the same opportunities as creators of other ethnicities. It is a major goal of ours to combat systematic racism, discrimination and oppression in the tech world.
