Mystery Babylon sung by Joy Mack RIEP
We pay tribute to Jsolyn Tyndale (16th April 1949 – 3rd September 2019), known professionally as Joy Mack, Singer, Songwriter, Actress and Storyteller who has transitioned. Joy Mack made a big impact on Jamaican music. One of my favourite song of Joy Mack songs, the classic "You Had Your Chance". Joy Mack made her debut in the early days of Lovers Rock in the late 70s. Hailed as the UK Reggae Queen and First Lady in the 70s, Joy’s single ‘You Had Your Chance’ reached Number One in the UK Reggae Charts in 1978 for eight weeks and won her a BBC Radio Silver Disc. This music video is a Celebration and Thanksgiving for the life of Joy Mack. “Mystery Babylon”, a track taken from a various artists album titled “The Revolution”. It was a pleasure pointing a camera at her. We had a whole afternoon in the park and also in a recording studio filming for a music video that was never done. Film Director Ladder Rick and the album Producer BirdLegs created a storyboard from a collection of rushes and stills in order to create this homage to Joy Mack. I was blessed to have known Joy Mack.
